a. For the first time since I've been in Texas, I saw someone wearing a pair of cowboy boots. The only weird part is that the lady had them on with hospital scrubs. That was a new look for me.
b. We rescued our dog Marty from the vet that kept him all week. We visited him midweek, and it almost seemed like he was getting a prison visit. He was so happy to see us. We were disappointed to see that he had yellow feet, and smelled like what made his feet yellow. Marty doesn't wet on himself, so it appears he was mixed in with a group of other dogs, and he stepped in their overflowing urine. Yuck.
c. Marty was groomed at the vet, but still had hard, grainy stuff stuck to his coat. Needless to say, he won't be going back to that vet as long as we live in Texas.
d. Cetelia found a lady on Craiglist who dog sits for half of what the vet charges, and does a better job. We dropped him off today, and he blended right in. Let's hope this dog whisperer does a better job than the vet did this coming week.
e. Our family drove to Hillsboro today, and visited with Leslie, a dear college ministry friend. We enjoyed it!
f. While in Hillsboro, we went to an "Outlet" if you want to call it that. Out of the potential 50-75 stores that could be there, I only saw four functioning stores. I guess not everything is bigger in Texas ... not in Hillsboro at least.
g. We saw this on the way back to Fort Worth. That's what I'm talking about, Jack!
h. We ate at places called Black-eyed Pea (no will. i. am. association), and Taco Cabana today. Both were good.
i. As is typical for the Bullard clan, ordering food in the drive thru was a complete nightmare for me. Rarely does anyone in my family know what they want - even if we're at a place we've been to multiple times before (like Chick-Fil-A where the menu DOESN'T CHANGE!). Sorry ... I shouted.
j. It took us nearly five minutes to order (insanity), and we still changed the order at the window (more insanity). Then, we were missing food, so I had to go inside to get it right (even more insanity). This "fast food" experience took almost 20 minutes total (complete insanity).
k. I worked at McDonald's for three years in high school, and I know the pressure the people are under to get the food out the window in a limited amount of time. No one in my family appreciates that - especially Cetelia. She will take her time, and refuse to be rushed. I, on the other hand, always thinking about the running clock inside the building, am quick to order, and get out of the line (and make life miserable for anyone else in the car). Can Dr. Phil or Oprah help me with this?
l. I heard this on the radio today, "God cares about the details. If God called you to walk a particular path, he will fill in the gaps." That's good news to one who like to plan and know the details. There are multiple gaps right now, so I look forward to God filling them (speaking of gaps reminds me of this scene from Rocky).
m. Ever seen the crazy show The Best Funeral Ever? We passed the funeral home today on the way to Hillsboro. By the time I realized it was Golden Gate Funeral Home, we had gone too far to get a good picture. If you're unfamiliar with the show, watch Quinton's breakfast funeral to see what it's all about. I don't know if I should thank or berate reality TV junkie Matrice for introducing this show to me!
n. The alleged UNC basketball program scandal has not even make a ripple down here. As an alum ('97), I absolutely do not want to believe what Rashad has said. At the same time, I realize that I truly don't know what goes on beyond the scenes. Until an independent investigation proves otherwise, I'm going to believe that UNC is doing things the right way - just as Dean Smith instituted and carried out for 36 glorious years.

p. On a sad note I received heart-breaking news today that my friend Jill died of cancer. She fought it bravely for years, but finally succumbed this morning. She leaves behind my dear friend Edgar, and their four, young beautiful children. I'll likely be in New Jersey later this week supporting Edgar and attending the funeral.
q. Rest in peace, Jill. You're already missed. Here's your song from Harry Connick, Jr. I love you.
